Dual Immersion

Dual immersion is a form of bilingual education which combines native English speakers with native Spanish speakers for academic instruction in both languages. The explicit goal of a dual immersion program is that students become bilingual, biliterate, and develop positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors. Academic performance is at or above grade level. All of this prepares students to become members of a global society.

In a dual immersion model, students from both languages have the opportunity to learn a second language while maintaining and developing their first one. Academic instruction is structured so that the two languages are separated and used at designated times. This provides all students with the opportunity to be successful language role models and as second language learners.
